Back from my trip! This year we had an extra day so Scott and I took my co-worker to EPCOT. There really is no theme park quite like EPCOT. It has a lot of cheesy charm. If you know where to look, there are still some places where you can get a glimpse of its original late 1970s/early 1980s “futuristic” architecture and murals. Some of the buildings have been updated to look more postmodern and less Dr. Who, but you can often pick out where the extra colors were tacked on. My co-worker was delighted with the hokey narration and spunky songwriting on Oh, Canada!, the 360 degree movie that is one of the last adorably original attractions. El Rio del Tiempo was sadly closed, suggesting that somebody noticed its very outdated. Kind of a shame, that was what I liked about it. The big score though was rediscovering L’Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante. My family used to go every time we went until we discovered my sister had a food allergy to eggs, and eggs are in all of the pasta. I hadn’t been in years and I guess I’d forgotten just how good the pasta really was. Actually its the best I’ve ever had, esspecially the pasta dumplings filled with cheese, mushrooms and black truffles.
